How does the military handle situations where a soldier crashes a vehicle?

Not much will happen. Army drivers crash their vehicles all the time.

Most people join the army at a very young age and don't have much driving experience. In addition to this, a tank or a truck is much more difficult to operate than a private car.

We had a guy in Bosnia who had totaled five or six army trucks in just a few months. Nobody blamed him. On the frontline, especially at night and under enemy fire, accidents happen all the time. Most often, our vehicles simply came off the narrow roads and crashed into a tree or a fence. We lost more vehicles in accidents than through enemy fire.

The crashed vehicles would be recovered, and either repaired or used for spare parts. The drivers just got a new vehicle and continued to drive.
